A positive track about peace, love and understanding, and a Frank Wilson production featuring Jean Terrell on lead vocals.
Originally titled "Stone Love," the title refers to the love we all share for each other as brothers and sisters living on the same planet. When it was mistakenly re-titled "Stoned Love" during the release process, the song was mistakenly thought by some to be about drugs. This caused controversy but probably helped increase sales. It was an infectiously upbeat number to begin with, and became the Supremes' last top ten U.S. pop hit, spending five weeks in the top ten.
Stoned Love first hit Cash Box's Top 100 Singles charts on October 31, 1970, reaching #84 with a bullet.- Dyn-O-Mite
